Jesus Keeps His Promises

S-cripture:

Mark 16:6 “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

O-bservation:

Very early on the Sunday morning following the crucifixion, some of the women who had been with Jesus during His ministry went to the tomb. But an angel said, “He is not here for He has risen.”

A-pplication:

One of the reasons I love this passage is because it reminds us that, “Jesus Keeps His Promises.” He had told his disciples that He would be killed and after three days He would resurrect. That’s exactly what happened here. The women believed in Jesus, but it is obvious they didn’t believe Jesus. He had never given them a reason not to believe Him while He ministered on earth, but that’s while He was alive. Now He was dead. They must have thought, “How can a dead person keep His promise?” They evidently had forgotten as well that Jesus claimed to be God. So once again the women didn’t believe Jesus. However, that morning everything changed for those women. They discovered that Jesus was God, and that He did come back on the third day, and most of all they learned that, “Jesus Keeps His Promises.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I want to thank You this AM for always keeping Your promises. I believe You! Amen

RELIGION

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 7:8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.

O-bservation:

Once again the Pharisees had pulled Jesus into one of their debates. Their debates always concerned themselves with “RELIGION.” Jesus said, “You have left the commands of God and are clinging to your religious traditions.”

A-pplication:

Following the Lord’s commands pleases God, while following the traditions of humanity pleases humanity. “RELIGION” has always had its roots in living up to some man-made tradition or rule that does not protect people, but instead diminishes them. God’s commands are for our protection and best good. “RELIGION” is a laborious quest for the unreachable. Humans keep adding stuff. Look at the US Congress. We have no clue how many, or what, the laws are that they keep adding and amending. That’s a good analogy for human-made “RELIGION.” You’re never sure what the goal is, and you’re never sure if you’re anywhere near reaching it. Personally, I choose Jesus over “RELIGION.” Here’s Jesus' law ... “Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor like you love and respect yourself.” For me that spells “JESUS” over “RELIGION.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Help me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength today and everyday! Amen

Keep Reaching For More

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 4:35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”

O-bservation:

Earlier in the day, Jesus was teaching and the crowds became so large that He got into a boat and taught from the boat as the people continued to stand at the waters edge. At the end of the day He said to His disciples “Let’s go to the other side.”

A-pplication:

We don’t know everything involved as to why Jesus wanted to leave that area and go to the other side of the lake at night, but He did. The Gospel is so powerful that when you’re full of it, you can’t help but to “Keep Reaching For More.” They had worked hard all day. Jesus had taught all day. In fact, on the boat ride to the other side He fell asleep. I know in my own life, even from youth, I’ve always had an urge to “Keep Reaching For More.” When Jesus fills you, His power takes over and pushes you to want to give to others that which He’s given to you. There comes a point where pain is put aside, weariness is laid aside, and in some cases relationships that hold you back are put aside so you can pursue Jesus. As a “Follower Of Jesus,” always remember to “Keep Reaching For More.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I’m ready to go to the other side with You and for You! Everyday! Amen

Our Call Is To Preach

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation."

O-bservation:

These words of Jesus were His Call to ALL disciples everywhere and forever. When He commanded the first disciples to go everywhere and preach, He was also commanding you and me. It's on us NOW! "Our Call Is To Preach!"

A-pplication:

This was not a suggestion; it was a command from God to His people. It wasn't segmented between the really committed and the not so committed believers, NO, this was a call to all "Jesus Followers." When our sons were small, I would pray with them each night individually and remind them that they would preach the gospel. I would then say, "I don't know what you will do for a living, but whatever it is you will use it as a post from which to preach the gospel." We have no options, we must preach, we have to preach, we will preach the Good News as long as we live. Why? Because "Our Call Is To Preach."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I will forever lay meddling aside and stick with preaching. I know You have called me to preach! Amen

Whatever You Do, Make It Right!

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 11:25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.

O-bservation:

Jesus had just told His disciples that when they prayed, if they BELIEVED, they would receive what they were believing for. Then He said, "But if while you're praying you remember you wronged someone, first go make it right, and when you come back God will forgive you."

A-pplication:

Forgiveness is a chain breaker. No matter how much any of us try to cover a wrong or bury a grudge, nothing works like forgiveness. And if you or I have wronged someone we need forgiveness. But what happens when we ask forgiveness and it isn't given? That's ok, it was our desire to make it right! When it's in our hearts to make it right, chains are broken and freedom is ours! So today ... "Whatever You Do, Make It Right!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I love praying with a clean heart slate! Please show me today the person I've wronged, I want to make it right! Amen
