Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Mark 9:35
Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
O-bservation:
Jesus’ disciples were enamored by His greatness. They desperately wanted to be great as well, but just couldn’t comprehend how. Jesus sat with them and said, “Whoever wants to be great must first stand at the end of the line and serve everyone else.”
A-pplication:
The real way to lead is to first serve. Service to God and our fellow humans is the doorway to leadership. Only kings could actually demand a following. However, everything changed when the ultimate King, Jesus, entered the world. His was not a life of power gleaned from top down tyranny. Jesus started at the bottom, and through His actions He taught us how to serve our way out of a life of insignificance. Even then the goal is never to become great. True leaders gain the confidence of those surrounding them through service, allowing them to lead others into abundant living. In effect Jesus taught us to “Sow SERVICE, Reap LEADERSHIP.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
It is my goal to serve You with ALL of my heart. In so doing You have taught me to serve others. I often fail, please stay with me and hold me up. Amen

This changes everything that I am taught in society!
This is what I think of today’s devo: this is where servant leadership comes from. And it does have a special meaning. I will look foward to serving my wife and kid-knowing that serving is Jesus’s will for me. Instead of sucking my teeth when asked by my wife to grab her a drink of water or changing the babies diapers, I will be conscious that, hey, this is Jesus’s will for me. TO BE A SERVANT.
