Who are you CLINGING to?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 63:8 I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.

O-bservation:

In a world that was constantly closing in on him, King David made a statement of who it was he was holding onto for strength and sustenance. He called out to his Heavenly Father and said, "I 'CLING' to you; your right hand upholds me."

A-pplication:

Whatever you hold onto with an unusual "GRIP" is usually what you're trusting in, to some extent. Certainly we've all met people who have a "tight hold" on money. And when their money begins to slip through their fingers, panic sets in. Recently, a woman came to me and said, "I don't want to keep going on, my husband left me for another woman." As we spoke, I learned that it had happened 20 years ago. She had lost her grip on a relationship that she had trusted in, but she still couldn't stop "CLINGING" to it. Her ex-husband was now married to someone else and had a whole new family! These examples could go on endlessly, but the truth is ... Jesus will never slip through your fingers if you CLING to Him! "Who Are You CLINGING To?"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, This AM as I look back, I feel like I've been clinging to You all my life. I can tell You this ... I'll CLING to You until I see Your face. Amen

Jesus Is Ready, Are YOU?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 8:7 Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”

O-bservation:

This brief story centers on a military leader who was concerned for one of his employees. He told Jesus that his associate was paralyzed and suffering terribly back at home. Jesus immediately asked, "Do want me to go and heal him?"

A-pplication:

Oftentimes, we make our requests to Jesus a much bigger deal than is necessary. Make no mistake, Jesus is ready to hear and answer every need we have. However, if we're not careful there are times we just don't want to trouble Jesus. So we fail to ask. Thoughts such as, "He's too busy," or "My problem is too insignificant," or "I've already reached my 'ASK' quotient this week" can derail our miracle from happening. This man, who had never met Jesus before and was not a JEW, made a statement ... and immediately Jesus offered His services. Now imagine what Jesus will do for one of His very own "Followers." Scripture says, “He will do exceedingly and abundantly MORE than we can ask or think!!!” (Eph. 3:20, paraphrase). "Jesus Is Ready, Are YOU?"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior and You are unlimited. Because of that, I know I can't wear You out with my ASKING. So again today, I am ready for You to heal, provide, protect, and empower me. Yes, I want it all because You want to do it all. Amen

The Challenge of Fruit Inspection

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 7:20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

O-bservation:

This short verse sums up Jesus' directive to His "Followers" on how to tell the Real from the Phony. He said, "What is in people, good or bad, will come out of them." He labeled the product of each as ... "Fruit." So the way to discern the Real from the Phony is by looking at their "Fruit."

A-pplication:

This is a difficult passage to fathom or justify because Jesus begins the chapter by saying, "Do not judge or you too will be judged" (Mt. 7:1). But now He says the way to tell the Real from the Phony is by their FRUIT! But isn't that Judgment? Let's look at it. In verse one Jesus condemns the condemnation of others. But in verse 20, He promotes the idea of Discernment. Real discernment doesn't condemn anyone, but it does give the discerner a leg up on the person who may be trying to swindle them because of their natural inclination to love and serve those they come in contact with. What was Jesus' way of Discernment? Well that's the rub. It's called ... "The Challenge of Fruit Inspection." Because, by their fruit you will know them.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, It is never my intention to condemn any of my fellow human beings. But I do ask You today, for my own sake, to give me the ability to lovingly and privately inspect others’ fruit. Not in order to judge, but to discern. Amen

PRAISE BREAK

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 35:18 I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among the throngs I will praise you.

O-bservation:

For the most part, Psalm 35 is a deep cry from King David's heart to God. He appeals to his Heavenly Father to step up on his behalf against his oppressors from verses 1-17 and from verse 19 to the end of the chapter. However, in this one verse, verse 18, David stops the crying in order to Praise and Thank the Lord. He not only does this in Church but also in the Marketplace.

A-pplication:

"Followers of Jesus" are not unlike everyone else on the planet. Every person alive has a continual series of challenges that has to do with the "Fall of Man" in the "Garden of Eden." What makes us different from the rest of the human race is that we have spiritual weapons we can employ should we choose to use them. Two of those weapons are mentioned here. They are: GRATITUDE and PRAISE. In the middle of every evil force David was facing, he stopped. It's like he took a "Praise Break." The words of this verse seem so Out Of Place in the context of the whole chapter. Yet, this chapter typifies our very existence today. At every point, we are desperate for Our Father's intervention. So don't forget to ... "Stop And Praise Him." In fact, now would be a great time for a "PRAISE BREAK!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I just have two things to say this AM. Thank You and Praise You!! Amen

All Gone

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 34:19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all.

O-bservation:

The Great Psalmist David said, "For those who wholeheartedly follow the Lord, even they will still have many troubles in this life just like everyone else does." But here's the difference, for those who "Follow Jesus Wholeheartedly," Jesus himself will deliver those people from ALL their TROUBLES!

A-pplication:

If you are a "Follower of Jesus," I challenge you to never say this line ... "There's NO Way Out!" Or here's another one ... "I Guess It's Over For Me." Both of those statements are common for people to think and say ... But for the "Follower of Jesus" they just aren't true! Jesus makes "All Trouble" for His people be "All Gone!" That's what He does. When Jesus healed Blind Bartimaeus, where did his blindness go? It was ... "All Gone!" How about the woman with the "Issue Of Blood?" Where did that problem go when Jesus healed her? "All Gone!" What about Lazarus, when he was dead in the tomb for four days and Jesus came and raised him from the dead, where did death go? "All Gone!" What about you? You are a "Follower of Jesus;" it's not over for you. In fact, just the opposite is true. That money issue you're faced with, the relationship issue, the sickness, I'm telling you ... In Jesus name it will be "ALL GONE!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, Most of all, today I am thankful that when You saved me You made my sins be "All Gone!" Because of that, I can trust You with the rest! Amen
