Where Do You Think It Came From?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Chronicles 29:14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”

O-bservation:

Before David's death, he prepared the treasury of Israel to be able to fund the Temple his son Solomon would build. More than enough came in, and instead of gloating King David said, "Where Do You Think It Came From? Everything that we gave, You Lord, gave to us. Who are we? Without You we wouldn't have anything to give."

A-pplication:

This is a beautiful passage in the Bible because there was evidently great AWE among the People of Israel because of the massive offering that had been given. In the middle of the AWE, David basically said, "Where Do You Think It Came From?" Anytime you feel the urge to complain when it comes your time to be GENEROUS, just STOP! Then ask yourself the question, "Where Did That Come From?" Because, whenever we begin to complain about having to be GENEROUS, that's when the feeling of ... "I Did This" ... begins to set in. That was the hard lesson King Nebuchadnezzar had to learn. King David never had to learn that lesson. He knew, everything he had ... "Came From The Lord!"

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I'm far from being as good as King David, but I will say this ... I have NO doubt in my heart where my supply came from. You, Lord, are my source! Amen

Times Of Refreshing

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Proverbs 11:25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

O-bservation:

Here the wise man, Solomon, promoted the law of the harvest. A generous person will prosper. That’s just the way it is. But then he introduced another truth. Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. This word refreshed means to be revived and renewed. So, in simple terms, the generous person will become prosperous while at the same time feeling revived and renewed on a continual basis.

A-pplication:

Here’s what I know about generous people. They are happy and fun to be around. They exude warmth and a vibe that says, "Let’s go tackle that obstacle that lies in front of us." They are not faithless in any way; they are faithful. I don’t even mean that in a Christian way, I mean that in a general sense. Anyone who is generous is happy and faithful. They operate with a faith that says, “I know I’m going to win.” Now, when you add the concept of Christian faith to the generous person, that person is now on a loving mission to help people not just get by here on earth, but in eternity as well. There simply is no denying that when you enter into the world of generosity, you are also entering the “Times Of Refreshing.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I want to refresh others! I’ve experienced the “Times Of Refreshing” for much of my life. I need Your help to continue refreshing others. Amen

The Generous Christian Citizen

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 12:17 Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.

O-bservation:

Once again Jesus was pressed to respond to the Pharisees who are trying to catch Him in His words. It had to do with taxation, and Jesus simply said, "Be generous with your government and be generous with The Lord."

A-pplication:

Money is a "Red Flag" for most of us. Anytime anyone tries to take any of our money, we go into "Lockdown Mode." So when the Pharisees asked Jesus what a "Jesus Follower" thought of Roman Taxation, He answered by saying, "Give to Caesar what he requires and give to God what is His as well!" I believe Jesus' main emphasis beyond what is required of we mortals is that we would not be "Red Flag" people when it comes to money, but instead we would all be GENEROUS. My father used to say, “Rich first of all, it's all God's. Second of all you can't out give God. In other words son, trust in the Lord and He will always take care of you." I've proven my Father’s words to be true. When you have a generous heart you'll never be antagonistic toward your government and you'll never be antagonistic toward the Lord. We just do what is required and even MORE. That's what it means to be ... "The Generous Christian Citizen."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I just want to say this AM that You won't have any "Red Flags" from me when it comes to generosity. You've done way too much for me! Amen

God Needs Nothing BUT Does Mark The Generous

S. O. A. P.

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 50:12

If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it.

O-bservation:

God had just spoken through the pen of King David to the people of Israel, saying that He owned the cattle on 1,000 hills, every animal in the forest, and every bird and insect. God said, "It's all mine. I don't need a thing from you. But I am making note of the GENEROUS among you, and those who call on me in their day of trouble, I'll deliver" (paraphrase).

A-pplication:

I've lived for a bit of time, and at this point in my life I've seen quite a lot. I have to say that what God said in David's day is true in my day. "God Needs Nothing, BUT Does Mark The GENEROUS." All of us will pass away and another generation will take our place. That has been true since the beginning of the human race, and will continue till the end of time. But God has remained. He changes not! (Mal. 3:6). The thing that stands out to God in our lifetime is our GENEROSITY. He says, "When you call me in your time of trouble I'll deliver you, you will honor me." I've watched it happen my whole life. "God Needs Nothing, BUT Does Mark The GENEROUS."

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, I want to always be generous with You, my God. I have experienced your continual deliverance out of trouble for my family my whole life. Thanks for keeping your word. Amen

A Generous Prayer Warrior

S. O. A. P.

Here's your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Acts 10:4b The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”

O-bservation:

The Roman centurion Cornelius did not know Jesus, but He continuously prayed to God and gave money to the poor. In time, God sent an angel to speak to Cornelius and told him his prayers and his giving had gotten God's attention. St. Peter was brought to Cornelius’ home and his entire family was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. The story of Peter preaching at the "House of Cornelius" was the first time the Gospel moved from the Jews to the Gentiles.

A-pplication:

Praying and Giving always gets God’s attention. If you're in need of a "spiritual breakthrough" in any area of your life, start praying and start giving. When you sow prayer, you reap answers to prayer. When you sow your finances, you reap MANIFOLD answers to prayer. Cornelius prayed to a God he didn't know, even though many gods were worshipped throughout the Roman Empire at that time. God revealed His son Jesus to Cornelius. And not only that, because of Cornelius' faithful giving to the poor his entire family was saved! That's a MANIFOLD blessing! This is the story of a "Generous Prayer Warrior" who just wouldn't stop. Sometimes, when the victory is not evident, you should just keep on praying and giving. God will respond. I'm not sure if an angel will appear to you, but God certainly will.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus, With Your help, I vow to keep on Praying and Giving. You know what I need! Amen
