Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Chronicles 29:14
“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.”
O-bservation:
Before David’s death, he prepared the treasury of Israel to be able to fund the Temple his son Solomon would build. More than enough came in, and instead of gloating King David said, “Where Do You Think It Came From? Everything that we gave, You Lord, gave to us. Who are we? Without You we wouldn’t have anything to give.”
A-pplication:
This is a beautiful passage in the Bible because there was evidently great AWE among the People of Israel because of the massive offering that had been given. In the middle of the AWE, David basically said, “Where Do You Think It Came From?” Anytime you feel the urge to complain when it comes your time to be GENEROUS, just STOP! Then ask yourself the question, “Where Did That Come From?” Because, whenever we begin to complain about having to be GENEROUS, that’s when the feeling of … “I Did This” … begins to set in. That was the hard lesson King Nebuchadnezzar had to learn. King David never had to learn that lesson. He knew, everything he had … “Came From The Lord!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I’m far from being as good as King David, but I will say this … I have NO doubt in my heart where my supply came from. You, Lord, are my source! Amen
