The Generous Christian Citizen

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 12:17

Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.

O-bservation:

Once again Jesus was pressed to respond to the Pharisees who are trying to catch Him in His words. It had to do with taxation, and Jesus simply said, “Be generous with your government and be generous with The Lord.”

A-pplication:

Money is a “Red Flag” for most of us. Anytime anyone tries to take any of our money, we go into “Lockdown Mode.” So when the Pharisees asked Jesus what a “Jesus Follower” thought of Roman Taxation, He answered by saying, “Give to Caesar what he requires and give to God what is His as well!” I believe Jesus’ main emphasis beyond what is required of we mortals is that we would not be “Red Flag” people when it comes to money, but instead we would all be GENEROUS. My father used to say, “Rich first of all, it’s all God’s. Second of all you can’t out give God. In other words son, trust in the Lord and He will always take care of you.” I’ve proven my Father’s words to be true. When you have a generous heart you’ll never be antagonistic toward your government and you’ll never be antagonistic toward the Lord. We just do what is required and even MORE. That’s what it means to be … “The Generous Christian Citizen.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I just want to say this AM that You won’t have any “Red Flags” from me when it comes to generosity. You’ve done way too much for me! Amen

This is just a conformation for me because this past week, I have been so happy to just give. Pastor Marcus really motivated me after hearing his message on a Sunday. Joyce Meyers always says that we should give until it hurts. I want to be a giver and a server.
I love your message and I love Trinity Church and I am not even a member, but I want to be.

    Thank you Pastor Rich.
