Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Acts 10:4b
The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”
O-bservation:
The Roman centurion Cornelius did not know Jesus, but He continuously prayed to God and gave money to the poor. In time, God sent an angel to speak to Cornelius and told him his prayers and his giving had gotten God’s attention. St. Peter was brought to Cornelius’ home and his entire family was saved and filled with the Holy Spirit. The story of Peter preaching at the “House of Cornelius” was the first time the Gospel moved from the Jews to the Gentiles.
A-pplication:
Praying and Giving always gets God’s attention. If you’re in need of a “spiritual breakthrough” in any area of your life, start praying and start giving. When you sow prayer, you reap answers to prayer. When you sow your finances, you reap MANIFOLD answers to prayer. Cornelius prayed to a God he didn’t know, even though many gods were worshipped throughout the Roman Empire at that time. God revealed His son Jesus to Cornelius. And not only that, because of Cornelius’ faithful giving to the poor his entire family was saved! That’s a MANIFOLD blessing! This is the story of a “Generous Prayer Warrior” who just wouldn’t stop. Sometimes, when the victory is not evident, you should just keep on praying and giving. God will respond. I’m not sure if an angel will appear to you, but God certainly will.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With Your help, I vow to keep on Praying and Giving. You know what I need! Amen
