S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 19:1
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies declare the work of his hands.
O-bservation:
King David was ALWAYS overwhelmed with the thought of Almighty God. In his estimation, it didn’t really take that much to be a believer in God. He said, “Just Look” at the heavens, in fact the skies themselves scream, “There is a God.” “Just Look!”
A-pplication:
Every time I read this Psalm I get excited. Take for instance just one of the magnificent imageries that David paints with his words. He says, “In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It’s like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber” (vs. 4b, 5a). WOW! Can you just picture a young man coming out of his honeymoon bedroom the morning after, pumping his fists in the air thinking, “There’s nothing I cannot do!!” That’s the picture David draws for us of the sun appearing over the horizon every AM. It’s brilliant, strong, immovable, audacious, and any other superlative you can think of to describe the majesty of our great God! You may be asking, “Where … where is it you’re speaking of?” Up There! In the heavens! The skies are screaming right now, “There is a God!” “JUST LOOK!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I couldn’t be more excited and thankful today that I have eyes to see. By just looking up into the heavens, both last night at the stars and this AM at the sun, my eyes are telling me, “There is a GOD, and You are with me!” Amen
