Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Daniel 5:17
Then Daniel answered the king, you may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else.
O-bservation:
This statement by the Prophet Daniel was made after God … out of nowhere … used a “Human Finger” to write words that were unintelligible to everyone in the room. There had been a raucous party in the King’s ballroom that night and God had had enough of this spoiled, partying son of Nebuchadnezzar. While he was shaking in his boots in fear of the mysterious finger, his Queen said summon Daniel the Prophet. He helped your Dad a lot. When Daniel was brought in, the King offered him money and a high position in his court. Daniel said I’ll interpret the writing, but keep your money.
A-pplication:
Every once in a while, a man or woman has to answer the question … “Who OWNS You?” Daniel never wavered. As a young man he served God alone. Then he watched four different Kings parade through leadership that he was subject to. But to the very end … NO ONE owned Daniel but God. This world with all of its “Limited Fineries” will vie for your servitude. But in the end there is only ONE who is worthy of the title “Lord.” So will it be the “Treasures of this World” that have an expiration date attached, or Jesus? “Who OWNS You?”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I am on my knees once again this morning, acknowledging Your ownership of this weak human vessel. Indeed You do OWN me. I am Your servant. Amen
