Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Luke 4:13
When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
O-bservation:
On three different occasions earlier in this chapter, the devil tried to tempt Jesus. Each time, Jesus rebuffed the temptation with written scripture from the Old Testament. But the Bible says the devil then left Jesus until a better opportunity would, in time, present itself for him to tempt Jesus again.
A-pplication:
Way too often, we “Followers of Jesus” resist temptation and then go on a spiritual vacation from the potential of spiritual engagement from the enemy ever happening again. But here and now let it be said … “He Just Won’t Quit!” With each victory we experience, the enemy of our soul only retreats in order to reload, in order to relaunch more temptation on us. The key line here is … “He left him until an opportune time.” In other words, when the opportunity arises he will be back with a whole new attack. We are encouraged in scripture to stay alert at “All Times” (1 Pet. 5:8). Today is upon us. Let’s move forward with our eyes on Jesus because we know the enemy of our souls … “He Just Won’t Quit!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
More than anything today, I pray for an alert mind and heart. I know the enemy of my soul is relentless. So, with Your help … “I Won’t Quit” either. Amen
