S-cripture:
Proverbs 28:14
Blessed is the one who always trembles before God, but whoever hardens their heart falls into trouble.
O-bservation:
King Solomon says that anyone who trembles in the presence of God (has a fear of God or a Holy respect of God) will be blessed of God. He also says that when that doesn’t happen, and they allow their hearts to be filled with arrogance, trouble is sure to follow.
A-pplication:
The writer of this passage did his writing, but in time failed to practice what he preached. Solomon was so blessed by God because of the fact that he lived by this verse. But in time he became so rich and applauded by man that it went to his head. Solomon died with these thoughts racing through his head: “Everything is vanity, it’s all vanity.” He lived an almost completely heathen lifestyle at the end. He felt like he was given a “PASS” by God when it came to sin. He lost his ability or his willingness to TREMBLE in the presence of Almighty God. The Trembling brought the Blessing. The Blessing brought the Abundance. The Abundance stopped the Trembling. As I look across the Spiritual Landscape of America, I have a question. Where are the Tremblers?
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Today I ask with all of my heart that YOU would keep me praying. I ask that you would keep me TREMBLING. I want your Blessing, but I want YOU even more. Amen
