Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Proverbs 27:24
For riches do not endure forever. And a crown is not secure for all generations.
O-bservation:
The wise man Solomon addresses the issue of security in this classic passage. Money and Power, since the beginning of time it seems, have been man’s earthly attempt at stature and security. Alas, Solomon says money will not stand the test of time and neither will perceived power. They’re always changing. They are like cotton candy, which appears substantive until you grasp for it … only to find that indeed there is no substance to it whatsoever.
A-pplication:
Through the centuries, we have read of and watched despots who came to power and appeared to be invincible only to end in collapse. We have also witnessed great names, families, and nations built on extreme wealth suddenly crumble. But King David said … “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God” (Ps. 20:7). On this earth, “There’s No Security in Security.” But if you’re talking about Jesus now … well you can bank on Him. He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8).
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Once again this morning I rise to call on YOUR name which is above every name. I trust in You. You’re my hedge against all man made security. Amen
