How Do You Like Me Now?

S. O. A. P

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Proverbs 24:26

An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.

O-bservation:

Obviously the wisest man who ever lived, Solomon, had had a number of phonies try to weasel around his questioning through the years. During one of Solomon’s musings he compared an honest answer to a kiss on the lips.

A-pplication:

First of all, I have no clue as to whether or not I am exegeting this passage correctly. Next … I must admit that I have never thought of a direct or honest answer from anyone in my life comparable to a kiss on the lips. But since Solomon did, I thought I should give it a go. When I thought of Robyn (my wife) kissing me on the lips I thought … that just feels right! That’s probably true of an honest answer as well. I also thought when Robyn kisses me on the lips it’s very satisfying … I really like that. Now after you have been lied to, deceived, and given the runaround by who knows who, to just stop and hear an honest answer is … very satisfying. And finally, when Robyn kisses me on the lips it leaves me wanting more! And to be honest that’s what honesty does for me. It leaves me wanting more. Here’s the truth, when you stack HONESTY up against everything that it isn’t, you can almost hear honesty ask … “How do you like me now?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus.

I want to be someone’s kiss on the lips today, by just being honest. Nothing more just honest. Amen
