What’s A NET Compared To Jesus?

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 4:20

At once they left their nets and followed him.

O-bservation:

Earlier in this same chapter Jesus had been tempted by satan himself, and of course had come away victorious. Immediately He began preaching repentance. About the same time, He began calling His first disciples to follow Him. The scripture says, “They left their nets and followed Jesus.”

A-pplication:

Fishing was a pretty typical “line of work” in the neighborhood in which Jesus began His ministry. Yet there was something so compelling about Jesus that these fishermen gladly left their business in order to follow Him. From our vantage point, after over 2,000 years of Christian history, one could quickly say “What’s A NET Compared To Jesus?” However, in that day no one knew Jesus and “Their NETS” were their means of employment. When it was all said and done, it was definitely a reasonable exchange for those Disciples back then. So what about “Our NETS” today. Are they more important than following Jesus? A myriad of excuses have been thrown at the feet of Jesus by people today as to why they can’t “Leave Their NETS.” Here’s the question: Since we know NOW what they didn’t know THEN, how can we possibly do anything less NOW than those original Disciples did THEN? Because … “What’s A NET Compared To Jesus?”

P-rayer:

If there’s a NET that I’m still depending on other than You, please let me know. I’ll leave my NETS to follow You any moment of the day. Amen
