Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Matthew 6:14

For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

O-bservation:

During his famous “Sermon On The Mount,” Jesus made it quite clear that in order to receive forgiveness from God the Father we must forgive those who have offended us. In the next verse Jesus said, “If you won’t, God won’t.”

A-pplication:

I often hear people say, “Well a true Christian never ‘Gives to Get.’” My response is always … REALLY? Every time I give, I expect to get something in return. When my kids were little, I would take them to the doctor and get them immunization shots so they wouldn’t get certain ailments. I give the bank my money so I can get it back with interest in time. I give cash to my car dealer to get a car in return. My wife gives a smile and lots of people smile back. Through the years my wife and I have honored our children and it’s a joy today that they honor us back. AND … in this passage Jesus said, “If you will forgive others, your Heavenly Father will forgive you.” I have spent a lifetime forgiving others because I so desperately need God’s forgiveness every day. How is it that oftentimes the very people who have lived a life of “Giving And Getting” are repelled whenever that line “Give To Get” is mentioned? All of life is built upon God’s “Law Of The Harvest.” It works in every category of life, both positively and negatively. That’s why it’s okay to “Give To Get.”

P-rayer:

Today I am reminded of your “Law Of The Harvest.” I understand that when I forgive others, You forgive me! I’ll keep on giving to get! I have no other hope! Amen
