Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 125:1
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.
O-bservation:
King David was the King of Metaphors. He writes the Psalms in the “Cradle of Civilization,” the Middle East. Naturally people knew the mountain David was speaking of in his day, and indeed we know of Mt. Zion, the “City on a Hill,” in our day. In David’s estimation it was a bulwark. The “City of David,” Jerusalem, was “UNSHAKABLE!” David likens one’s trust in the Lord to Mount Zion. He said that just as Mt. Zion will never be SHAKEN and will endure forever, if a person puts their full trust in the Lord they too will be “UNSHAKABLE!”
A-pplication:
I will not take the time to go through the history of Jerusalem, but I was there recently and IT’S still standing. Wow! Think of the many things you and I have put our trust in and were totally let down, and in some cases “SHAKEN.” Businesses, products, people, done deals, can’t miss real estate purchases. I could go on and on. None of them are a sure fit, you can’t miss, deals. Each one of them has a failure component built in, that if unnoticed will, in time, leave you SHAKEN! However, when it comes to putting one’s full trust in Jesus, now we’re talking about a “For Sure, Done Deal!” If Jesus is the object of your trust … You will be … “UNSHAKABLE!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I remember the words of this same King David when he said … “Some trust in chariots and some in horses but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” That’s the way I feel this AM! Amen
