Two Things

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 62:1

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.

O-bservation:

“Two Things” are evident in this short phrase from King David. First, true REST is found only in Jesus. And second, David said his SALVATION comes from the Lord.

A-pplication:

When I was young and thought I was working hard, I would look at an elderly person and say, “Someday I’ll be old and will really be able to REST.” As I think about those days, the people I was focused on were probably the same age as David when he wrote these words. Anyone who has a couple of years behind them knows that through age we learn about stress and added responsibility that quite often involves caring for the needs of lots of people. What every seasoned adult yearns for is “Real REST!” David said only Jesus can provide the REST that relieves the stress we face. The second part of the “Two Things” David mentioned was SALVATION. We all think of Eternal SALVATION at this point, and of course that’s everything. But then there’s the SALVATION we feel in the midst of trial, or while we’re paying bills, or when we’re at the hospital and the news isn’t great, or that we feel in our relationship with Jesus. In all of those instances we can know His SALVATION. Whatever you do today, don’t forget these “Two Things.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I am so thankful for these “Two Things,” Your REST and Your SALVATION. I depend upon them every minute. Amen
