Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Numbers 28:2b
Make sure that you present to me at the appointed time my food offerings, as an aroma pleasing to me.
O-bservation:
This verse speaks of the “Food Offering” the Lord was asking Israel for, one of a succession of offerings God directed the people of Israel to give. Often the Lord would say of one of the offerings, “It is an aroma pleasing to me.”
A-pplication:
“OFFERINGS” are sometimes looked at with skepticism by folks who seem to lack a spirit of “Generosity.” God has always demanded “OFFERINGS” from His people as a way to break any spirit of greed or envy from their lives. When a “Follower of Jesus” understands that an Offering is like something that smells fabulous to the Lord, it’s easier to be Generous. Why? Because it pleases the Lord. He literally gets caught up in the moment of our Offering to Him. What is it that catches JESUS’ attention? As I look at Scripture, it has to be the person who is GENEROUS. Such a person is Generous with the Lord, and is also Generous with people who cannot reciprocate. OFFERINGS are our hedge against selfishness, pride, apathy, and cynicism. People who embrace these character traits are not “Easy Company” for me or anyone else to embrace. Could it be that when we walk with a spirit of GENEROSITY, we most emulate our Heavenly Father? As you prepare to head out the door this AM, determine that you will live with a spirit of GENEROSITY!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I’m so thankful that You have never ever forsaken me. Sometimes I feel alienated from people, but never from You. I’m thrilled to serve You and Your people through acts of GENEROSITY. With Your help, I’ll always bring my OFFERINGS to You! Amen
