The Peacemaker

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 24:36
While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”

O-bservation:

Jesus could have made his first appearance to all of his disciples, save for Thomas, after he had resurrected from the dead, by saying, “I told you so.” Or he could have said, “Why wouldn’t you believe me?” But instead the first words from his mouth were, “Peace Be With You!”

A-pplication:

Of course there was a time in the gospels where Jesus was filled with righteous indignation, but for the most part Jesus was, “The Peacemaker.” I know he said “I didn’t come to bring peace but a sword,” (Matthew 10:34) But he wasn’t saying that our response to family and friends who reject our Christian faith will be one of war, but their response may be one of war. Jesus’ life and teachings here on earth, among the common man, was one of peace. The ones who rejected him were mostly those who had something to lose, by accepting him. Many years ago my wife and I started a new ministry brand and we called it “PEACEMAKERS.” Because we had always followed the PEACEMAKER we decided that’s what we would call our ministry. After all these years, we still follow Jesus, “The PEACEMAKER!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,
It has been the highest honor of my life to have followed you, “The Peacemaker.” I believe that you have helped my family and me reach people who have needed peace – and you are the one we have pointed them to. Amen
