The Man
S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.
O-bservation:
During the ministry of the Apostle Paul, he had one well-known understudy named Timothy. Everything Paul knew as it related to Jesus the Messiah and Jewish history, he poured into the younger Timothy. Regarding praying, Paul told Timothy that there was only one mediator between the Almighty and man and that mediator happens to be “The Man” Christ Jesus.
A-pplication:
Imagine how this must have impacted people in Paul’s day. Jesus had only been crucified a little over 30 years earlier. Think about praying to a man people had known as Jesus while on earth, as God. How do we do that today? We usually start with “Dear Jesus,” and end it with, “In Jesus Name, Amen.” But, can you imagine just a generation removed from His life on earth as the ONE MEDIATOR between God and man? Only true believers could preach and teach and live with such emphasis that they would eventually die for the cause of “The Man.” And that’s where that term must be established like never before. Jesus wasn’t just “a man.” Jesus was “The Man!” That’s right! I’m talking about “The Man” who walked on water, commanded storms to cease, raised dead people back to life, and opened the eyes of blind people. But “The Man” of whom I speak can bend to hear your silent prayer and bring your answer in the nick of time. That’s why St. Paul was quick to teach the young man Timothy that there is only one mediator between God and man. He is “The Man” Christ Jesus.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I need You! I need Your mediation between my Heavenly Father and me today. That’s why I call upon “The Man,” my Jesus, to get me through today. Amen
