Speaking For God

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 22:28b

They say, “This is what the Sovereign Lord says”—when the Lord has not spoken.

O-bservation:

This entire chapter, the Prophet Ezekiel spoke a forceful diatribe against those who claimed to “Speak for God,” but who in fact had not been commissioned by God to speak on His behalf.

A-pplication:

I have been a part of the Christian ministry since the early 70s. That means I’ve listened to thousands of different messages by hundreds of different ministers in my lifetime. There have been a number of times when a “Minister of The Gospel” has said, “The Lord told me to tell you….” And often times what has followed has been absolutely SILLY. As a young man, and now throughout the years as a more seasoned adult man, I have often thought to myself … “There is no way in the universe that God told that person to say that!” When it comes to “Speaking For God,” it is imperative that each of us holds fast to God’s written Word … “The Bible.” People can say they disagree with God’s Holy Word, but you and I who must one day give an account for every idle word we speak can be at peace. Why? Because those who embrace the ministry of “Speaking For God” can never MISS when we speak what Jesus has already said in His written Word … “The Bible.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM I want to “Hold Fast,” to the Word of God … “The Bible,” as never before. When I speak for You I want to be sure it’s something You have already said. Amen
