Another One Bites The Dust

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 28:5

By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, and because of your wealth your heart has grown proud.

O-bservation:

The Prophet Ezekiel lived in a day when no one appeared to be serving the Lord. Consequently, his prophecies impacted almost every meaningful nation at that time. One of them was the King of Tyre (part of Lebanon today). Ezekiel said of him that he had been given a skill (obviously from God) to trade with other nations. But because of his growing wealth, he had grown proud in his heart, as if he had done it all by himself. He was doomed by Ezekiel’s prophecies.

A-pplication:

How often have you witnessed someone in your personal world who started out humble and in time, because of a God-given gifting or skill, became Arrogant? Money really can corrupt. In fact, Scripture says, “The love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Tim. 6:10). Money seems to always be surrounded by people’s “Pride and Lust.” It always amazes me to see a person’s insatiable craving for money when they have only to look at history to see the carnage left behind from “Man’s Worship of Money.” As has been said before in these AM S.O.A.P.s, Jesus gives us two choices for the object of man’s worship. It’s either “JESUS” or “money” (Matt. 6:24). When I read of the “King of Tyre” in this passage this AM, my first thought was … “Another One Bites The Dust.” Choose with me today to be a Worshiper and a Server of the only God who will never leave you, nor forsake you … “JESUS!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

With Your help I will not “Bite The Dust” going after that “Other God,” money. Instead I choose this AM to serve You and You alone. Amen
