Soul Matters

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Mark 8:36

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

O-bservation:

This was the question Jesus asked those near Him one day. Is it worth it to be the most admired, have the greatest influence, or have a financial portfolio larger than your local bank, and yet forget there is eternity to face in your future? In fact, Jesus mentioned losing your eternal soul.

A-pplication:

Obviously this raises huge questions in the lives of many. Is there really life after death? If there is life after death, doesn’t everyone inherit a utopian state of existence whether good or bad? After all, how could a loving God actually punish people for eternity? For those of us who believe Jesus is God, we can only have faith in what He had to say about such questions. The fact that He spoke about one losing one’s eternal soul is certainly cause for those who don’t believe. If Jesus really is God (and More than 2 Billion people believe so) then no amount of money or influence or celebrity in the world should supersede the issue of … “Soul Matters!” Before anyone pursues any of the aforementioned attainments, one should first of all come to peace with one’s eternal soul. The only way to accomplish that is through faith in Jesus. Once the “Soul Matters” are cared for, everything else will fall into place.

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This AM, as I head toward my mission again, I’m so thankful that long ago I took care of the “Soul Matters” in my life. And truly, the peace I’ve gained through faith in You has made everything else in my life “Fall into place!” Thank You! Amen
