SOMEONE

S. O. A. P

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Ezekiel 22:30

I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.

O-bservation:

There was a time in Israel’s (The People of God’s) history that they were so rebellious that God looked for SOMEONE, just one person, an Abraham if you will, who would stand in the gap for the people before the Lord. But God said He couldn’t find ONE.

A-pplication:

This passage reminds me of Abraham arguing on behalf of the people of the cities of Sodom & Gomorrah, asking God to relent from His judgment if he (Abraham) could find at least 10 righteous people. And God agreed. But Abraham could only identify Lot, his Wife, and his Two Daughters. So God destroyed the cities. If you think that’s bad, in Ezekiel’s day God couldn’t even find one person to stand on behalf of the people of Israel. God said, “Give me SOMEONE. Just ONE … Is there ANYONE?” But alas, there was No ONE! Sometimes today, as things darken spiritually around the world, there are Christians who lament the fact that NO ONE is willing to stand for God anymore. In my estimation that is a ridiculously small worldview. Each year thousands of Christians are still martyred around the world for their faith. But remember, the issue is not “THEM,” it’s “YOU and it’s “ME.” So for YOU and for ME, the question is … Are “WE” willing to be that “SOMEONE” at God’s beckon call?

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I beg You today, before You go looking for SOMEONE to do your will … Do not pass me by. I will be that SOMEONE You need. Right HERE, right NOW. Amen
