Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 42:8
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.
O-bservation:
King David was in great distress when he wrote these words, and yet he reminded himself that God IS his God. He reminded himself that during the daylight hours God’s love was VISIBLY being demonstrated all around him. And then at night, David would fall asleep HEARING the song of the Lord resonating in his soul.
A-pplication:
We often speak of this generation as the “Sight and Sound Generation.” But think about it for a moment. Haven’t we always been a “Sight and Sound Human Race?” Thousands of years ago, David reminded himself that every day he would look around and all he would see were the earmarks of the Love of God. The sun, the trees, the wheat fields, the birds, the animals, the sunsets, these were all, in David’s opinion, signs of the “Love of God.” At night, the sweet Songs of Heaven, which in some cases he had personally written, would one more time be a sign that everything is okay. God has everything under control. So I guess the question is: “What are You LOOKING for and what are You LISTENING to?” Determine today, that you will “See His Love And Hear His Song.” If You will, YOU’LL be fine!
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Today I choose to praise You for Your Love that I see all around me. And when I lay my head on the pillow tonight, remind me of the Songs I will hear and sing every day, not just on Sunday. Amen
