Remember Who’s It Is

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 24:1

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.

O-bservation:

Psalm 24 was sung during a ceremony where the ark, God’s earthly throne, entered the Temple. In this verse, King David identifies the approaching God and proclaims His ownership over the earth, everything in it, and all who live in it. The King wanted to encourage the people to rise above their earthly lives so they could instead have a holy life and an unshakable faith. He begins by reminding them that everything belongs to God.

A-pplication:

I know many people who work hard for Stuff. They are proud when they have the nicest car, the biggest pool, or the newest styles of clothing. All of us enjoy having something nice, something we can be proud to call our own. Too often that leads to a “keeping up with the Joneses” situation, where our motives become about having more than our “competitors.” What we need to stop and remember is that NONE of it is ours. Our house isn’t ours, our car isn’t ours, even our children are not ours. When God created the earth, He retained ownership. He allows us to reside here, and he claims ownership of us too. He is our Lord, our Creator, and is the Father of our souls. Everything He gives us, is given so we can grow His Kingdom. So the next time you look at your neighbor’s new television or car and think you need one too, take a moment to … “Remember Who’s It Is.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

This morning I am thankful that I belong to YOU! Thank You for blessing me with so much, and I will be sure to “Remember Who’s It Is.” Amen
