Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Mark 6:34
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.
O-bservation:
Jesus had sent out the 12 Disciples to preach, and in the meantime King Herod had “John the Baptist” killed. So much was going on that when the Disciples returned to report to Jesus, there were so many people surrounding them that they didn’t even have time to eat. Jesus said, “Let’s get away to a quiet place.” But when they crossed the lake in a boat and disembarked, there was already a large crowd waiting for them. However, Jesus didn’t turn them away. No! Instead he had COMPASSION on them and began to teach them many things.
A-pplication:
Real Compassion moves a person to keep going when they feel like quitting. Real Compassion looks beyond one’s own needs to the needs of others. Real Compassion will compel a person to go without food to feed one without any food. Real Compassion will lay aside personal desires to help another person find their desires. Real compassion turns despair into hope, defeat into victory, and losing into winning. When Jesus saw the masses, He put His physical and emotional needs aside and met their needs. In the years to come may, it be said of You and Me … “They had Real Compassion.”
P-rayer:
I want to be moved with Compassion for people just like YOU were moved with Compassion for people. That’s my prayer this AM. Amen
