Please Don’t MOVE

S. O. A. P

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Jeremiah 42:10

If you stay in this land, I will build you up and not tear you down; I will plant you and not uproot you, for I have relented concerning the disaster I have inflicted on you.

O-bservation:

Because of Israel’s sins, God allowed Babylon to break down Jerusalem’s walls, burn the city, and destroy the temple of God. When the Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar pulled out of Jerusalem, he left a small remnant of the Israelis there. They continued to suffer ups and downs until, under the leadership of Johanan, they began a move to Egypt. Before they arrived in Egypt, Johanan inquired of the prophet Jeremiah for a word from The Lord. After 10 days Jeremiah said, “Here’s what The Lord says … Please don’t MOVE. I’m going to bless you HERE.” But they called Jeremiah a liar and disobeyed God. They went to Egypt and met their destruction there.

A-pplication:

This may not be for everyone, but I believe it’s for someone today. Right here, Right now! Could it be that you’re getting ready to leave another “Hard Place?” Are you about to uproot and leave again? Maybe today you are one day away from a turnaround. Perhaps God has a plan “Against All Odds” to bless you and prosper you in this place called “IMPOSSIBLE!” Wait … Listen … Could that be the distant voice of Jesus saying to you … “Please Don’t MOVE?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Like most folks, I have desired to leave my hard place on more than one occasion. But through the “IMPOSSIBLE” times I’ve heard you say … “Rich, you’re just a few days away from a turnaround.” Glad I stayed. Amen
