Please Be Careful

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Luke 17:1

Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come.

O-bservation:

In speaking to His disciples, Jesus emphasized the fact that people, no matter how spiritual they are, do mess up. Jesus also noted that at times people stumble because they have watched and followed the actions of a fellow “Follower of Jesus.”

A-pplication:

We’re not going to get into a legalistic discussion here, but it is imperative upon every “Follower of Jesus” that he or she remembers someone is always watching. It is true that whatever we do, we do it with all of our heart as unto the Lord. At the same time, it is incumbent on us to realize that perhaps our personal liberty in a given area of action is more of a BONDAGE to another person. This would especially be true of new “Followers of Jesus.” In fact, in the very next verse (Luke 17:2) Jesus refers to these new “Followers of Jesus” as little ones, as if they were babies. The truth is, a new “Follower of Jesus” is a baby, spiritually speaking, even if they’re 50 years old. Jesus was careful to favor these little ones before absolving any of us of our responsibility to “Brand New Believers.” When it comes to possibly offending a new believer as a result of our own personal liberties in Jesus, we should ALL … “Please Be Careful.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I am so thankful this AM for the liberty You have given me through Your GRACE. However Lord, with Your help, I am willing to give up certain rights should they at any time become a potential for causing a brother or sister to stumble. Amen
