Our God is Always Talking

S. O. A. P.

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Job 33:14

For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it.

O-bservation:

After Job had given a personal defense as to why God was unjust in allowing him such unusual pain, sorrow, and suffering, a fourth man spoke up. The other three friends had nothing more to say, but a younger man named Elihu felt like he must defend the Lord. One of Job’s complaints was that God would not answer his prayers. Elihu told Job that God is always speaking, whether we’re aware of it or not.

A-pplication:

One of the examples that Elihu used in speaking with Job had to do with the dreams and visions that God gives us while we’re sleeping. But there are many examples of God speaking, and we’re just not tuned into His voice. There have been many times where it’s just been my wife Robyn and me in a room and I’m reading or answering email. She will begin speaking to me, and while she is speaking I will respond with “Okay” or “Oh, wow!” or “Oh, really?” And when she says, “You’re not listening to me!” … I stop and say, “You’re right.” Before we ever accuse our Great God of not answering our prayers, we need to stop and hear the Lord say right now: “You’re just not listening to Me!” Because “Our God is Always Talking.”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

Today I repent for ever accusing You of not answering me when I pray. I know that You’re talking to me in different ways all the time, and I’m just not listening. Amen
