S-cripture:
Galatians 6:5
For everyone should carry their own load.
O-bservation:
As the apostle Paul begins to wrap up his letter to the Galatians, he speaks of helping restore friends who have sinned and really messed up. Paul says, “You who are spiritual should do this.” He warns them that when they are dealing with certain types of sin, they need to know that they too could fall prey to the Temptation. This is not about getting a special badge when you get to heaven. This is about stooping down in the dirt to help a fellow fallen brother or sister back to spiritual life in Jesus.
A-pplication:
The world has grown weary of talk and sermon pontificators and those who appear to condescend to others in real need. I did a funeral recently for a friend who had battled homosexuality for most of his life. He had real big issues in his life. In time, it cost him his wife and children, and he left the family. But not long after, his wonderful daughter and son-in-law came to love their father again. He repented of his sin and said he would live the last days of his life in celibacy. At the funeral, his small group of Christian friends came and supported him and his small family. One by one, the people who attended began to report their stories of this one man who cared like few others. He only made about $600 a month on his Social Security, but one woman reported that after her husband died six months ago this gentleman began sending her $140 a month, because she was a widow, to help her try and live after her husband died. That’s why … “I Want To Be a Load Carrier.”
