Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Corinthians 6:7
The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?
O-bservation:
The Apostle Paul was mystified to think that one Believer was taking another Believer to court in the courtrooms of the ungodly. He couldn’t believe that “Followers of Jesus” in the church at Corinth couldn’t work it out among themselves. He was so appalled that he asked the question … “Why not just be wronged by your brother as opposed to unbelievers watching brothers and sisters in Christ sue each other?”
A-pplication:
This kind of thing appears rampant in the Body of Christ. When we, as “Followers of Jesus,” find it difficult to identify and rally together for a common cause, we end up turning on each other. MOUs (Memorandums of Understanding) are quite normal in the Body of Christ today. They are probably a good idea, since the spiritual state in which we are living is so weak. An MOU is a formal agreement between two parties so they can actually trust one other. But it appears the MOU is the first sign that, as Paul stated, We Have Already Been Defeated. When we need protection from our own brothers in Christ, perhaps it would be better to … “Just Be Wronged Instead.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I come to You this AM with a heavy heart. I ask that You would begin the process to bring about whatever it takes for the return of “Real Trust” among Believers. We Believers really do want people to know JESUS! Amen
