S. O. A. P.
Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
St. Paul was not only the church planter of the first churches throughout Asia Minor, he was also their Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor, and Teacher. He said this to the Philippian church, and it’s still a warning to us today. Here it is … “Make sure in your daily walk with The Lord that you live up to the knowledge of Jesus you’ve already learned.”
Years ago, I read a line by the great Baptist preacher Dr. Vance Havner. He said, “Many people want to be taught the ‘Deeper Life’ in Christ when they still haven’t learned to live the ‘Simple Life’ in Jesus.” In other words, in your pursuit of a greater knowledge of Jesus don’t walk away from the rudiments of the “Fruits of the Spirit” and the “Sermon on the Mount,” which are fundamental to our daily walk with Jesus. Being a “Jesus Follower” doesn’t look arrogant or appear condescending in any way. Conversely, the life of a Christian is a joyful, energetic, attractive life that compels people to pursue Jesus as passionately as you do. So before you yield to the temptation to travel the road of spiritual “One-upmanship” … “Live What You KNOW!”
I want to be faithful in living the basics of my Christian faith. Help me to pursue You with diligence and all humility is my prayer! Amen
