Call On The Lord Today

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

2 Chronicles 14:11

Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.”

O-bservation:

Asa was the son of King Abijah of Judah. Earlier in his father’s career, Abijah had been outnumbered 800,000 to 400,000 by Jeroboam’s forces. But Abijah called on the name of the Lord and God routed Jeroboam and his army. Now, years later, Abijah’s son King Asa of Judah was in a similar situation against the Cushites, and like his father he called on the name of the Lord for help. The Bible says (vs. 12), “The Lord struck down the Cushites before Asa and Judah. The Cushites fled.”

A-pplication:

Besides being “The God of the Universe and the Creator of All Things,” God is also our Father. I know that as a father, all my boys have ever had to do is to call me and I’ll be there for them IMMEDIATELY! Unlike us God is there before we call, but is waiting for us to call. He is the same today as He was thousands of years ago when Abijah and his son Asa called out to Him for help. And He will be the same forever. Just like He immediately answered this father and son team thousands of years ago, He’s ready to rescue and save you out of your trouble today. You may be saying, “Rich, what do I have to do?” Just … “Call On The Lord Today!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m so thankful that nothing has changed since the days of Abijah and Asa. We, Your people, still face insurmountable challenges, but You’re still waiting for us to call on You today. So, here I am again and I’m calling. Amen
