Know It All vs. Love Them All

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

1 Corinthians 8:1c

But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.

O-bservation:

The Apostle Paul was writing to the young church at Corinth regarding food that had been sacrificed to idols. He was obviously promoting the grace of Jesus, but he was also promoting the way a “Follower of Jesus” should approach other people with other beliefs. He told them, “knowledge puffs up but love builds up!”

A-pplication:

Have you ever been in an environment that was over your head when it came to scholarship? I know I have, and sometimes in those settings I’ve felt like some of the smart people were talking down to me. I’m not sure if they meant to, but it sure felt like it. Their knowledge is their pursuit. On the other hand, I’ve met some of the brightest people in the world who made me feel like I was the only person in the world. Why? Because I could feel their love. To a “Follower of Jesus,” it’s imperative to know that all the information we are able to glean is needed for the “Race Ahead.” However, the “Race Ahead” involves people, and LOVING people. So there will always be this choice: “Know It All vs. Love Them All.” I’m of the opinion that “Loving Them All” is certainly more fulfilling in the “Race Ahead” than “Knowing It All!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m going to believe You this AM to even help me LOVE the “Know It Alls!” Amen
