Keep On Asking

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Psalm 4:6

Many, Lord, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us.

O-bservation:

This passage was written just before harvest season. Year after year, God had been faithful to the people of Israel during times of harvest. Yet King David, in his prayer to the Lord, asks like a little child if God will be bringing them prosperity again this year.

A-pplication:

One thing that hurts many businesses today is … “Presumption.” If a business has been doing well for a long time, those involved have a tendency to forget what got them there. They begin to PRESUME it will always be good. The problem with Presumption stems from a lack of thanksgiving and humility. Thanksgiving acknowledges I didn’t get here on my own. I know that I had help, a lot of help, along the way. Once thanksgiving is offered, Humility of Heart follows. Those two characteristics keep a person hungry for creativity, strategy, and hard work. When the great King David asked the Lord if He would be bringing Israel a good harvest again that year, David was acknowledging that his success was dependent upon the Lord and not himself. In other words, David PRESUMED nothing. Instead, he always approached God as a son whose main motivation in life was to … “Keep On Asking!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I never want to presume that You will bless me, no matter what I do. It’s my desire today to approach You with a heart of gratitude and humility in order to ask You to please bless me. Amen

I just wanted to say thank you for sending me daily devotions and helping me along my fasting journey…. I want to open up to you a little bit…. ive been through a lot in life what people expect from an adult ive been through… i went to jail for something i shouldn’t have done but did because of what i was taught, ive been in foster care since i was 3 months old (i currently still am), ive been abused physically, mentally, and emotionally, etc. From the S.O.A.P ive realized that through the Grace, mercy, and forgiving nature of God ive made it through hell and back… so instead of asking God for things that he’s already revealed to me i need to start thanking him for what he has done and is doing for my life. For using me out of all people to preach the word and my testimony to people who still have a chance on this earth to make it into the kingdom of Zion with our Heavenly Father 🙂
