Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Chronicles 13:14
The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.
O-bservation:
During the priestly reign of Eli, the Philistines took the Ark of God out of Israel after they had defeated the Israelis soundly. But after several months, the Ark of God created such trouble for the Philistines that they decided to give it back to the Israelis with gifts. During the reign of King Saul, the Ark remained in Baalah in Judah and not Jerusalem. When David became King, he decided to bring the Ark of God back to Jerusalem. Along the way there was a problem. David became fearful of moving it any further and decided to leave the Ark in the house of Obed-Edom for three months. During that time, the home of Obed-Edom was Blessed Abundantly!
A-pplication:
The Ark of the Covenant represented the Presence of God. If you touched it you would die (1 Samuel 6:1-7). If you looked upon it incorrectly you would die (1 Samuel 6:19). The sign to all of Israel was that God’s presence is holy and unapproachable. But the rest of the story to the Israelis was that if God’s presence (The Ark) is with you, you will be Blessed Abundantly. After several thousands of years nothing has changed, except we don’t know where the Ark is. But we do have “The Comforter” with us (The Holy Spirit). And when God’s Spirit is with you, His PRESENCE is near. Remember … “God’s Presence = God’s Blessing.” Ask Him to stay near you today.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I am asking You to stay close to me and show me how I can get closer to You. Amen
