S-cripture:
Judges 4:8
Barak said to her, “If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.”
O-bservation:
This story takes place during a time when judges were leading Israel. One such judge was a woman named Deborah, who was a prophet. Deborah asked one of her warriors, Barak, to lead 10,000 men of Israel against the Canaanites. Barack said, “I’ll go if you go with me.” Deborah said, “If I go with you, a woman will get the credit for the victory.” Barak didn’t care who got the credit; he just wanted his General, a woman prophet, to lead the charge.
A-pplication:
I’m constantly amazed at how many Losses are chalked up that could’ve easily been Victories except that someone insisted on being the one who got the credit. That one variable has been responsible for so many defeats in just about every category of work in the world. As has been said here many times before, “Servant Leadership” is the key to victory. When folks aren’t concerned with who gets the credit, it opens the door for everybody to win. Deborah, “The Prophet Leader” was deferring to her best warrior Barak so he would get all the credit for the victory. But Barak wanted the Victory more than the Credit. That’s why they WON. Just do what God tells you today and … “Don’t Worry Who Gets The Credit!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I want to win the victory. I’m not concerned with who gets the credit, as long as we win! Amen
