Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Corinthians 12:26
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
O-bservation:
Once again, the Apostle Paul uses our physical body as a metaphor for how God wants His spiritual body … “THE CHURCH” … to operate. He said when one part of the body suffers the whole body suffers with it. When one part of the body is honored the whole body rejoices with it.
A-pplication:
When a part of you hurts, everything hurts. Recently I stubbed my toe. It was difficult for me to walk without a limp. It literally hurt all the way up to my ears! I’m sure you’ve experienced something similar. But it’s also true that when I go to the gym and work cardio my whole body is exhausted afterwards, not just my legs. If I lift weights my whole body tightens up, not just my biceps. But I’m sure you would agree that when you drive home after a great workout your whole body seems to be applauding in unison. It’s also true of the church. If one of our friends passes away we weep with the family. If another receives honor, we honor them as though we had won it ourselves. We as the church constantly WIN through, “Suffering And Honoring.”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
With Your help, today I will stay on course with my fellow Believers. I will suffer with them when they Suffer, and I will Rejoice with them when they receive Honor. Amen
