Don’t Talk

S. O. A. P.

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

Zephaniah 1:7a

Be silent before the Sovereign Lord, for the day of the Lord is near.

Here Zephaniah is warning the people of God, who have turned away from the Lord, of impending judgment to come. He tells them that to be in the presence of the Sovereign Lord, in this case, simply means “Don’t Talk!”

Let’s move this to our present time. We know the scripture tells us to “Seek the Lord while he may be found” (Is. 55:6). It also says “Call to me and I will answer you” (Jer. 33:3). So there is definite precedent set in scripture to speak to the Lord in prayer. However, there are definitely times where the situation just demands that we “Don’t Talk.” Some of my most wonderful times with Jesus have been the times when I never said a word. The reason why we “Don’t Talk” in the Lord’s presence is not always because He’s upset with our actions. More often than not, just His sheer magnificence is amazing to behold when in solitude with Him. Try it the next time you’re in Jesus’ presence, just … “Don’t Talk!”

Dear Jesus,

This AM I’m here to not say a word, but just to be with You. Amen
