Leviticus 23:22

O-bservation:

This is the directive that God gave to Moses as He spoke to him concerning the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. At the end of this annual Israeli feast, the Lord made it clear again that during the harvest, the edges of the fields were to be left, as were the gleanings so that the poor and foreigners among them had sufficient to eat. It was God’s way of establishing a principle that could be put this way. “Don’t Take It All!”

A-pplication:

I recently heard of a team of billionaire brothers who were having a hard time selling a large property. They were offered full price for the property, but half of the payment would come in the form of a charitable giving receipt from a local ministry. They loved the idea because they were so wealthy that they needed the write-off, and they would get rid of an unwanted property at full price. Their lawyer said NO WAY! The reason was that the brothers had never given a single dime to a charity of any kind in their billionaire lives, and to be given a charitable receipt of such magnitude would send a red flag up to government authorities. What was their problem? They believed they could live a life of “TAKING IT ALL!” Life works best when generosity is in the mix of everything we do. Material things that we handle with an open hand policy have a tendency to be replenished continually. So remember, “Don’t Take It All!”

With Your help, my dear Robyn and I have planned to live with a loose hold on everything that comes our way. We know that You’re the giver of everything we have. You’ve never failed to provide. I can’t thank You enough. Amen
