Don’t Just Say It … Do It

S. O. A. P

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

1 John 3:18

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.

O-bservation:

The Apostle John tells us that love is more than words and fine rehearsed speeches. It’s not enough to talk a good game, eventually you will have to go on to the playing field of life with other players and show us what you’ve got. Love is more than words … it’s ACTION! And if we Do “LOVE” in Truth, it will be evidenced that our love is enduring because TRUTH ENDURES.

A-pplication:

When someone asks me what I, as a Christian, believe about … (Fill in the blank) … I always answer, “It’s not important what I believe or what I say about a given issue. What’s really important is what I do.” Obviously vitriolic speech is repulsive at any time, however our actions promote what’s really inside of us. I can say, “Well God is against that, or that’s a sin,” but how do my beliefs help anyone out of their trouble once my words have turned them off? Every religion has a set of beliefs, BUT Christianity has something that transcends belief systems. It makes a real believer hard to categorize. That “SOMETHING” is … Love. It sets us apart from everything else. To WILL the highest good for God and your “Fellow Man,” that is the Act of Christian Love that has no equal. Once people see you love, and experience your love in action, they will usually say … “How can I get me some of that?” Now you can tell them what you believe. Until then, Don’t say it … Do It!

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I love You! But I know it’s not enough for me to say a good game, I’ve got to get onto the field and “lace em up” and actually play a good game. Help me Do It! I want to Do Love. Amen
