Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 74:15
It was you who opened up springs and streams; you dried up the ever flowing rivers.
O-bservation:
The Psalmist in this passage describes how wide God’s reach is in both directions. If there ever was a “one verse” definition of the word “POLARIZATION,” this is it. It is God who causes the Springs to open up and the Streams of water to flow. It is also God who dries up the ever flowing rivers. “HE CAN DO EITHER” of these extremes.
A-pplication:
I suppose the question one is left to answer is … “What role do you want God to play as it relates to your own life?” Earlier in the Word of God, He told his people, “Look, today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse!” (Deut. 11:26, NLT). Historically, when we choose to go God’s way and obey, the Blessing follows. Things like streams in the desert places are actually streams and not mirages. On the other hand, if we decide to choose the curse and disobey God, He then takes the opportunity to get us back on track by doing things like “Drying Up Ever Flowing Rivers.” The Truth is … “HE CAN DO EITHER.” Our choice usually determines which “EITHER” He will do.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Even though I’ve messed up a lot in my life, You have never dried one of my rivers up yet. Even when I fail You, I still have a heart to do Your will. I’m asking You today to “Keep the river ever flowing in my life” Amen
