Deeds R Seeds

S. O. A. P

Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!

S-cripture:

Obadiah 1:15

The day of the Lord is near for all nations. As you have done, it will be done unto you; your deeds will return upon your own head.

O-bservation:

The Edomites, represented by the word “NATIONS” in this passage, were the descendants of Esau. Esau was the older twin brother of Jacob. Esau sold his birthright to Jacob after Jacob had deceived his blind father Isaac as to his own identity. The Edomites have been at war with the Israelis ever since. This little-known prophet named Obadiah prophesied the destruction of the Edomites (Nations) by God. Five years after Jerusalem was destroyed, Edom suffered a similar fate. And somewhere in between that 5 year period is when Obadiah said “The Day of the Lord” is near. Edom’s fate was “The Harvest” of “The Bad DEEDS” it had sown.

A-pplication:

“Deeds R Seeds.” Let’s lay the Edomites aside for a minute and bring this closer to home. How about your DEEDS? The “Law of the Harvest” is the foundation of our very existence here on earth. Planting seeds and waiting for a harvest is what happens in every category of life. Your DEEDS, be they evil or good, become the seeds you sow. God reiterated this to the people in Jeremiah 25:7. He said, “You brought this on yourself.” Every problem I face, I want to point a finger at someone. But the truth is, most every problem I face I can trace back to a seed I sowed that I wasn’t even paying attention to. “Deeds R Seeds.” SO … Big question here … “How about your DEEDS?”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

You gave me five fingers to remember that when I point a finger, there’s always four pointing back at me. I know when my DEEDS are right … my HARVEST is too! Amen
