Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!

S-cripture:

Genesis 10:9

He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; that is why it is said, “Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the Lord.”

O-bservation:

Nimrod was the son of Cush, one of Noah’s sons. After the flood, Noah’s three sons and their children went forth to re-establish the earth. Verse 8 said Nimrod was first a mighty warrior, but then here, in verse 9, we see what he was really good at. He was a fabulous hunter. When your family relies on what dad brings home from the hunt to live on, this was no small thing. Nimrod was the best of the best.

A-pplication:

The power of this passage is in this one thought,  “Do The Best At What You Do!” Now I realize there weren’t a lot of options in Nimrod’s day. It was certainly the survival of the fittest. If you didn’t eat, you died. There was no technology or industry of any kind. Remember, they were starting all over as a people. But as a hunter, Nimrod was the best! What is it that you do that you may feel is somewhat insignificant? I say, do it the very best you can. That will lead to something else and something else until you are known as one who is always ready to “Do The Best At What You Do!”

P-rayer:

Dear Jesus,

I’m ready to be like Nimrod. I want to be a man known as a person who is always doing my best at what I do. I don’t want to bide my time waiting for a big opportunity. Help me remember that whatever I’m doing is my opportunity to do my best. Amen
