S. O. A. P.
Here’s your 90 second AM devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 38:18
I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin.
O-bservation:
Here is probably the most powerful man on the planet at the time, King David, admitting that not only is he a sinner but he’s troubled by it. And he puts it out to a watching world for all humanity to read.
A-pplication:
At this stage in my life, I’ve had a full life to experience and observe how people handle their own personal challenges. I must admit I’m always happy when I run into people who refuse to hide their own failures. It’s important that you understand that the idea of hanging all your dirty laundry out in front of everyone in a cavalier way is not what I’m proposing. No! Rather, the idea that a man or a woman can be “Always Open” before God is refreshing. They do not advertise an air of perfection or condescending man-made holiness. Instead, on a regular basis, they say … “Lord I’m a sinner and it bothers me, and I need You again today to show me grace.” That’s the person that JESUS is always standing by to help. Why? Because they are “Always Open!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
Thank You today that when I do air my sin before You I’ve never known You to condemn me, but rather Your forgiveness has been my reward. Help me stay … “Always Open.” Amen
