A Low Place

Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
Psalm 61:2
From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
O-bservation:
King David was obviously in “A Low Place” when he penned these words. Whatever territory he thought of as “The ends of the earth,” he had cried from each of those locations for the Lord to take him from this “Low Place” to “the ROCK that is higher than I.”
A-pplication:
Have you ever been in “A Low Place?” You’re probably laughing right now thinking, “Rich obviously doesn’t get out much because he’s asking such a dumb question.” But I don’t want to assume anything. A lot of folks refuse to acknowledge low places in their life because they’re worried that they’re not moving in faith. However, one of the most faith-filled humans in history, King David, knew the best way to get out of “A Low Place” was to, first of all, admit it. So the book of Psalms is filled with David admitting his low places and begging for God’s help. Here’s what he specifically asked for. He said, “Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” David had never met his future grandson Jesus, but many Christian theologians would agree that David was prophesying about the coming King Jesus. When you’re at “A Low Place” like David, run to Jesus. He’s higher than your trouble.
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
You will always be the ROCK that is higher than I. In my life, I have run to You whenever I’ve been in “A Low Place.” But I run to You on my best days too. Thank You, Jesus, for always being there to receive on Your high rock. Amen
