I’m just a mere mortal that God loves.

Psalm 144:3

“Lord, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?”

Consider the countless battles that King David led his men into the fight. We never read of David being wounded in any of those battles, yet he would have been the target of every enemy soldier.

He died at 70, and so his life was that of an average lifespan. I myself am in my seventh decade of living as I write. However, I feel as if my life was moved rapidly by the Lord to this point.

I’ve never fought in a war like David did, yet God has delivered me time and time again from certain destruction. I’m sure you could say the same, but David asked a question that I ask almost every day. God, why you care for we short-lived folks the way you do?

Really, there are billions of people and only a few King Davids through history.

I’m amazed again today because I’m just a mere mortal that God loves.
