Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
2 Corinthians 1:9
Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead.
O-bservation:
Paul’s authority as an Apostle was under question at this time, for different reasons (mostly by religious people who were jealous), and in Chapter 11 he defended it fiercely. But in this second letter to the Church at Corinth, he immediately acknowledged that he and his associates had faced death, up close, and were forced to choose between relying on their own abilities or on the Lord, who actually raises people from the dead. They chose God!
A-pplication:
You will always find that the more desperate you are, the more stressed you are, and the more depressed you are is the time when you’re thinking … WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? Or, HOW AM I GOING TO WORK THIS OUT? That is completely normal, because you and I are completely human. However, this is not the end of us. We are also SPIRITUAL. That means there is a realm of the supernatural that we are called to live in by God. That’s the place where our great God is continually, by the second, raising people from the dead and working miracles the world over. If we RELY on ourselves for our own need to be fixed, get ready for a hospital stay. But if we RELY on Jesus, He will resurrect our dead dreams. “Who Are You Relying On?”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
I have a tendency to get myself in a lot of messes. I realize this AM that if I get myself in a mess, can I really trust myself to get me out of that mess? Once again, I choose to RELY on You! I know You will fix it! Amen
