Here’s Your 90 second AM Devotional!
S-cripture:
1 Corinthians 15:10a
But by the grace of God I am what I am.
O-bservation:
If you trace the life of the Apostle Paul, you will find that he was highly skilled in the law and lacked no degree of scholarship as a young associate of the Sanhedrin. He was the same man who was changed by the power of God when he was on his way to Damascus to arrest “Followers of Jesus” who were residing there. Paul was so turned around by Jesus, that he planted churches as a missionary throughout Asia Minor, and then wrote nearly half of the New Testament! Most other men would’ve taken some credit for his accomplishments, but Paul said, “By the Grace of God I am what I am.”
A-pplication:
Most folks are quick to give you their personal accomplishments. In fact, there are professionals who help people write their accomplishments into Résumé form when seeking new employment. The only way to look at such a thing is to simply call it what it is, self-promotion. That’s the way the world operates. People end up winning and losing based upon their ability to promote themselves. Certainly, like me, you have a list of accomplishments in your life. In fact, that’s what gives all of us a sense of real worth in the Kingdom of God. However, instead of writing out the list, next time why not just replace the list with this one line, “By the grace of God I am what I am!” And that’s … “The Only Reason!”
P-rayer:
Dear Jesus,
This AM I’m reminded of just Who “Butters My Bread!” Without You I have little to offer, but with You I always know I’m in the majority! Amen
